Biomedical Equipment Technician - Telemedicine
Biomedical Equipment Technician-- PART TIME
Reports to: Director of Telemedicine
Classification: Non-exempt
Department: Outreach

JOB SUMMARY:
The Biomedical Technician performs as an essential part of the Telemedicine Program for Parker County Hospital District by performing various job duties under the direction of the Director of Telemedicine. The Biomedical Technician will be in charge of installing and maintaining biomedical equipment, preparing equipment performance reports, and instructing personnel in the care and use of equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performing routine maintenance checks on biomedical equipment through testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting.
• Installing new biomedical equipment and adjusting the device according to medical specifications.
• Training staff members and partner members to operate and care for equipment with physical demonstrations and educational presentations.
• Updating the inventory, placing orders, and verifying deliveries.
• Repairing faulty machinery on a routine basis and tending to emergency repairs as needed.
• Keeping a digital record of equipment repairs, faulty components, and recalibrated devices.
• Ensuring that all equipment meets company standards of safety and quality and is in compliance with relevant laws.
• Carries out the goals of the organization by exploring opportunities to add significance to job duties, and by accomplishing different and innovative requests
• Maintains a healthy and safe working environment by fulfilling and recommending procedures, performing safety tests, complying with codes, and guiding and training health care and medical personnel
• Coordinating with IT Director concerning any hardware, software, connection, or access issues as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Strong command of the English language both written and oral.
• Appropriate understanding of computer office hardware (i.e., PCs, tablets, laptops, copier, printer, fax) and software (i.e., Microsoft Office, EMR, email, internet).
• Confidentiality and integrity
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Exceptional knowledge of the structure and uses of biomedical equipment.
• Solid technical skills and the ability to repair machinery with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced medical environment.
• Proficient dexterity and hand-eye coordination, as well as physical stamina to lift heavy equipment (40-50lbs).
• Good technical skills
• Documentation and Record keeping skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Associates degree or higher, preferred
• Valid Texas Driver License
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a biomedical technician, preferred.
